False Advertising is a Punishable Violation

Agents everywhere may be violating the law and not even know it!

HUD forbids the use of signage, letterhead, websites, telephone messages, business cards, and office literature using logos or verbiage such as:

  • Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • Federal Housing Administration
  • United States Housing Authority
  • Public Housing Administration.

HUD also prohibits using the letters:

  • HUD
  • FHA
  • PHA
  • USHA

Additionally, real estate agents and brokers (and others) are warned not to use any combination or variation of those words or the letters:

  • HUD
  • FHA
  • PHA
  • USHA

… alone or with other words or letters seasonably calculated to convey the false impression that such name or business has some connection with, or authorization from, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, or any agency thereof is false advertising and IS NOT PERMISSIBLE.
