Ask Denise: LinkedIn Etiquette

Denise Lones

Q: Denise, due to your urging, I just updated my Linked In profile and a client has “endorsed” me. How should I respond?

A: While an endorsement is hardly the same effort as a recommendation on LinkedIn, they can quickly add up and give your profile that extra oomph that validates your character to your visitors. When people do you a good turn, I recommend following-up with them in the spirit of reciprocity – take a look at their profile and endorse them for the skills that you know they have. You can even endorse them for new skills that they are not already championing. If you do, they’ll have a chance to approve your endorsement the next time they sign-in. It only takes a second to do, but by giving a little back you’ll have taken one more step forward in your online relationship with that person.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
