Ask Denise: Branding Within the Rules

Q: “Denise, I am ready to create a brand for myself in 2017, but my company is very particular about using their templates for business cards and property marketing (house flyers, just listed cards, for sale sign). What should I do?”

A: You should defer to your brokerage rules, but there may be ways that you can introduce your brand on those materials without it being too far a departure from the unity your brokerage wants.

For example, if we created a name logo for you, then that could possibly take the place of your typewritten name on your house flyer and just listed card. Perhaps we can create a sign rider with your branding on it. And don’t forget about the power an amazing agent photo will have. In fact, time and money spent on getting a memorable photo will pay off in spades.

Many brokerages have some sort of rules when it comes to brokerage materials that are mandatory to use and what they prefer you use. Have a discussion with your broker so you understand the rules, but don’t let a few small rules make you think you can’t make a strong visual statement with your new brand!
