Q: Okay, Denise. I am taking the plunge. I am ready for video. But I am concerned that my double chin is going to take the stage. Help!
A: I appreciate your honesty! I think just about everyone I talk to has a flaw of some sort they feel will be magnified on the screen, but really, your clients don’t care. They already have forged a relationship with you which you are going to make stronger with video. I would recommend you start with a selfie stick and angle it so it is shooting just a smidge down on you instead of having you looking down at the camera. You may need to experiment with angles and find your best, but don’t be afraid of video because of this. Go for it!
Working with a professional filmmaker will also help. In addition to finding (and lighting!) your best angles, a professional filmmaker will walk you through everything, helping you feel more relaxed which, in turn, will make you look better in front of the camera. 😉
That’s great advice for set pieces that you – an agent – will use again and again. Malia is a fantastic videographer and knows her stuff. But, agents, don’t let your fear of video stop you from doing more casual videos like BombBomb video email communication. Make this month the month you bravely step into video and make its power your own!
