Ask Denise: Winter Doldrums

Q: “Hi Denise –  I am struggling with the winter doldrums! I think the market is slowing down, so why don’t I just take some much needed time off?”

A: If time off is what you need then of course you need to take time off.  Taking time off is more dependent on when you need it, not just the time of year.

I do believe that this time of the year is an excellent time to pay attention to the many “season sensitive” opportunities there are out there.  For example in the Pacific Northwest right now many areas are seeing a change in inventory which locally, may provide opportunities for either buyers or sellers. In areas with a continued decrease in inventory, there may be opportunity for buyers to get into the market because some buyers are getting out of the market for the holidays – and sellers want to sell. For sellers, an opportunity to list their home with decreased inventory will attract serious buyers. This time of year is a fantastic time for both buyers and sellers so I tell real estate agents no to “give up” hope or feel that the market is done until Spring.  Nothing could be further from the truth!!!
